Sagre e feste
My husband and I will be visiting Tuscany in October 2014. We are looking for local activities---wine, mushroom, chestnut---festivals to attend and enjoy. Also, any historical themed events.

what a wonderful period for visiting Tuscany! October is a month full of events dedicated to the most representative products of Tuscany, such as chestnuts, porcini mushrooms, olive oil......
It's a bit difficult to suggest you specific events, since I don't know when and where are you going to stay here in Tuscany, but this is a site listing all most important and renowned folkloristic events dedicated to food - it's in italian, so you'll need to translate it:
If you like truffle, there's the White Truffles Exhibition Market on the 4th and 5th of October in Corazzano San Miniato, Pisa.
There are several festival dedicated to chestnuts close to Florence, have a look at this page (once again, in Italian only): http://www.eventiintoscana.it/eventi...olklore/page/5.
On the 8th of October, there are the Santa Reparata Celebrations in Florence, with guided tours to archeological sites underneath Florence Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral (where the Santa Reparata ancient Cathedral was originally built).
Have a look at this page also on Florence October main events:
Have a nice stay in Tuscany!
