florence to volterra

HI, we will be driving from florence to volterra via lucca and Pisa. can you suggest places to stop by on the waY? anything related to historical sights, food shopping.

Like mentioned in a separate post, if you're trying to do this drive on the same day I wouldn't recommend many other stops along the way.... if you're doing it on separate days, then stops between Pisa and Volterra totally depend on the road you're taking.... and actually I would just recommend you take the most "direct" route through Lajatico as it is a very scenic route through this gently sloping hills. There isn't much in terms of specific towns to stop and see but definitely stop along the way to take pictures of the Tuscan landscape. You might find some sunflower fields along the way, as well as lots of poppies in the green fields
