Arezzo from Florence
We are planning a day trip via train from Florence to Arezzo in June 2014. Would there be any difference between doing this on a Monday versus Tuesday? Is there a preferable day to go there? Would we find sites or restaurants closed on Monday, as some are in Florence?

Has anybody got any suggestions?

Some restaurants will surely be closed on either Monday or Tuesday but not all on one or the other, there should be a balance. As far as museums, the only one of the main ones I found that is closed on Monday is the Museo Nazionale d'Arte Medievale e Moderna and since I liked it, I would go on a Tuesday ;-). But for most of other main "museums" - Church of of San Francesco for the Piero della Francesca frescoes or the Casa Vasari - are open every day so you shouldn't have problems on either day. All other churches will be open ;-)

Arezzo is less touristy than Florence although there are several places to visit, to eat is also advisable to contact the restaurant to find out which ones are open, since it is very likely that on Monday some are closed

Thank you for your response, Massimo. Good advice. I have already found that one restaurant of interest is closed on Monday.

That's the case everywhere - since restaurants are open on the weekends, they will have their day of closure of the week on either Monday or Tuesday, all across Italy so the same in Arezzo, Florence and the small towns all around Tuscany. Not all of them on the same day - but if you're interested in particular ones, it is better to know which day they are closed so that you can plan which day to seek them out ;-).

I even found that one of our choices is closed on Wednesday, Lourdes! So, we will go on Monday or Tuesday to see San Francesco and have a nice lunch.
