6 Days in Tuscany

Hi there, I am planning a honeymoon to Tuscany in early July. Most likely my flight will arrive Florence at 7.30pm. What I wanted to do is having 1 or 2 days driving trips, vineyard, olive groves visit. I would like to have 1 or 2 nights vineyard stay too. The destination I would like to cover are:

- Florence;

- Siena (most likely will base there);

- Chianti

- Val d’Orcia

How would you recommend the the itinerary like? Do you recommend me to drive all the days? Budget for a night stay best maintain at 100EUR, max 130EUR.

Honeymoon in Tuscany

Buongiorno,

I suggest that you base yourself for two nights in Florence - you get in late, just head over to your hotel, check in and either crash or go out for dinner.

Enjoy one full day, a second night and then pick up your car later in the afternoon and drive to your next accommodation.

You can base yourself in Siena - though for your price range you might enjoy a b&b outside of Chianti - one with great views, and a bit of romance. From that base you can enjoy your vineyards, your olive groves, and visits to many of the major sites in Tuscany.

Have a look at these places:

or a self catering apartment:

2nd day

Overnight at Florence

3rd day
Drive from Florence
1/2 day Radda in Chianti
1/2 day Siena
Overnight at Siena

4th day
1/2 day Siena
Driving to Montepuliciano and overnight (B&B with winery/olive groves)

5th day
1/2 day trip to Val d Orcia
Overnight at Montepuliciano

6th day

Sounds like a bit rush but that's the time I have. Do you think this is doable? Or shall I plus/minus somewhere?

Hi -

your itinerary looks fine.

I know you indicate a B&B vineyard for your stay in Montepulciano...but there is also something to be said for staying in the heart of this town (check out Politian Apartments) But believe me when I say I get the charm of a vineyard and olive groove (my place looks over a vineyard and I am surrounded by olive trees...I love breakfast in my garden) so you can have a look at Il Greppo, very nice.

Have Fun!!

Ciao!

What about to have a base directly in the Chianti region? Volpaia is the finest choice.

I can suggest to visit Pisa, Pistoia, Lucca, Montefioralle, Monteriggioni, the area surrounding Montaione and Iano di Montaione, Baratti, Castiglione della Pescaia.

I will still prefer to base in Montepulciano as there are a few small towns around I would like to discover. However travel dates changed! Now I'm staying from 28th-30th June. Really need an outdoor place to sit and relax, drinking wine & enjoy good food with my husband after the hectic wedding planning ;)
