Accomodations in/near Villa Basilica-Rimogno-Duomo?
Looking to visit historical Villa Basilica, Toscana, near Lucca; interested in renting an apartment or room with shower for ten days during grape harvest in the fall. Any ideas? Thank you all. Rory and Tina in Alaska

some suggestions near Villa Basilica
Ciao Rory & Tina and welcome to our DT Forum!!
Since you have a very specific request for that area, I assume you already have the details for your 10 days during the grape harvest worked out? It sounds like a wonderful way to experience Tuscany!
Do you know exactly where you'll be helping out with the harvest? I did a search for accommodation in Villa Basilica and this is what I found online:
On the site for the Comune di Villa Basilica http://www.comunevillabasilica.it/ri...ta.php?start=0
there is only accommodation listed, the Cavallino Bianco. It is in Boveglio about 15 minutes north from Villa Basilica - www.ilcavallinobianco.com
On another site I also found the Hotel il Trebbio near Boveglio - Località Passo del Trebbio - 55010 Villa Basilica (Lucca) - +39 0572 43591 - but found no website.
A website of the Province of Lucca, in addition to the Cavallino Bianco, also has this one that rents out rooms and just outside of Villa Basilica:
Al Molino da Pracando - http://www.pracandoalvecchiomolino.i...e/indexeng.htm
I think is the best place based on what you described you are looking for.
Here you'll find some useful numbers for Villa Basilica: http://www.comunidellaprovinciadiluc...=35&Itemid=227
and a list of restaurants and trattorias in the area: http://www.comunidellaprovinciadiluc...186&Itemid=231
Also consider that you are very close to Collodi, less than 6 km from Villa Basilica, so if any of the above don't work out, you can also look for something there or in between.
Some examples:
in Collodi - Pinnochio Flats (http://www.pinocchioflats.com/)
in Petrognano, between Collodi and Villa Basilica - Fattoria di Petrognano (http://www.fattoriadipetrognano.com) or the Eremo del Gusto which is about to open in April (http://www.eremodelgusto.com/). They also mention a "Casa Sole" in Boveglio - you can view the brochure here: http://www.eremodelgusto.com//wp-con...saSole-ITA.pdf
I didn't find anything around Rimogno or Duomo.
I hope these suggestions help you out in your search! I am sure you will have a great time with the harvest
