Neighborhood in florence to stay in

Hi,

Can someone please suggest a good neighborhood to stay in florence with small kids. We will be there for 4 days in beginning of September. Should we book close to Duomo or close to Santa Maria Novella. Santa Maria Novella seems to be showing some cheaper hotels as well and duomo has more expensive ones.

Anywhere in the area between Santa Maria Novella to the west, San Marco to the north, Santa Croce to the east and down to the Arno river is the "heart" of the historical center and you're right in the middle of all the sights. So depending on your budget, as long as you're in this smaller circle within the center you'll be okay with small kids.

I agree, the places around the Duomo tend to be more expensive given the location, but even the ones near SMN are central - just make sure anywhere you stay at meets your requirements as far as services go.... there are many, many small hotels and B&Bs at all levels!

Have you taken a look at http://www.florenceaccommodation.com/ and browsed to see what's in each area?
