Hello ,

We are a family with a 9 year old child flying into milan on April 4th and renting a car and driving to florence and then Onto the countryside. So we plan to spend easter weekend in florence and then drive out on monday evening.
Should we book the museums in Florence ahead of time since we are arriving on a busy weekend.

My husband loves scenic beauty and drives and was hoping to get an off the beaten path experience in a village which is not touristy. Any suggestions?

Must do towns in tuscany and something of special interest for children?

Also need help with accomodation for the trip.. Prefer self catering places or cottages or apartments. Not too pricey. About 120 $ a day.

Thanks in advance

Your holiday with a 9 yr old

Buongiorno!
It is certainly better to book museums in Florence in advance...they are always very crowded...because they are so beautiful!!!
If you want to stay in "an off the beaten path" you could consider the little village of Sovicille (only 13 kms from Siena). From here you can easily reach the wonderful town of Siena, the Val d'Orcia, the Chianti ....
Some interesting suggestions for you and for your child;
MONTERIGGIONI:little town that still today retains many of its original 13th century architectural features, you'll have the opportunity of walking along the top of the castle walls and you can visit the little museum that houses faithful reproductions of medieval and Renaissance weapons and armour.
ABBEY OF SAN GALGANO: wonderful place with the mysterious "sword in the stone"
ITINERARIES (walking and by bike) www.prolocosovicille.it
CHIANTI SCULPTURE PARK IN PIEVASCIATA: integration of art and nature, diversity of cultures, represented by artists from all over the world, variety of materials.
These are only some exaples...there are so many things to see! If you need other information, get in touch with us, we'll be happy to help you: info@prolocosovicille.it
