Camping with dog early April

We are travelling in april with our two teenagers and big but lovely dog, on a budget therefore with two tents. I have already booked the camping international; firenze for five days at the very beginning of april. Any ideas about how to enjoy the pleasures of florence with a large but lovely dog in tow? We would like to move further south and camp for a few days in the val d'orcia and go walking/explore the hot springs. Are there any small campsites open from the 6th of april in that area?

Dog sitter?

Buongiorno,

I am a dog lover myself - and I totally get why you might want to travel with your big buddy...but I have to admit Florence is not really dog friendly. Having said that there is a doggie park along he Arno (Corner of Ponte S. Nicolò and Lungarno dei Tempio - near Piazza Beccaria) where you can let him fun loose for a bit.

But the congestion and the narrow roads might just make it a bit overwhelming for him. You might want to look into a dog sitter during the day - I checked out online and there are quite a few dog sitters in Firenze.

Where as in Val d'Orcia - or really anywhere in the countryside, your dog will probably find lots of space and calm for the holidays.

Many campsites won't re-open until Easter which is the 16 of April, because that's pretty much when the season starts again. However, my first search results in these two sites. I don't know anything about them - but they show that they are open in April.

Camping south of Florence

Buongiorno Jackie,

there is a very nice and quiet camping at about 15 kms from Siena. Have a look, there are always a lot of guests with dogs there.http://www.campinglamontagnola.it/
It is not located in the Val d'Orcia, but the area offers a lot; wonderful walks, antique churches, castels and still authentic villages. It is at about 50 kms from the Val d'Orcia. As already explained by Donna Denise, most of the campings open again around Easter, so it is important to get in touch.
We wish you a very beautiful holiday!
