Siege of the Villa in Poggio a Caiano

I have been looking at information on festivals and found this one close to Florence. I wasn't able to find a program in English but it seems like the major events happen on Saturday and Sunday with a Renaissance market all four days. Does anyone have more information? Is this a recommended activity? Is it difficult to reach by bus?

I haven't personally gone but I've heard it is a very nice medieval/renaissance fair that takes over the small town and Medici villa.

The pdf program that you can download here has both Italian and English and explains the story of the event: http://www.assedioallavilla.it/programma.htm

Dates for this year are September 12-15!

You can reach it by bus from Prato, which you can get to by bus or train from Florence.
Here's the map for buses from Prato to Poggio a Caiano:
http://www.capautolinee.it/Linee_Ed_Orari/P/167 for the maps and this link for the time tables:
http://www.capautolinee.it/Linee_e_Orari/Linee_Extraurbane/L/173 (click on the second LAM MT in blue that includes Poggio a Caiano to see the map and then click on the PDF download icon to the right - the pdf address keeps changing every year and this link gets broken otherwise).

Wow, Lourdes! You have done it again. We leave on our trip today, and you have contributed so much helpful information. Thank you so much.

You're welcome! and if you manage to go, let me know how it is - I'm "unfortunately" taking a break and going to Elba (poor me :D )! otherwise, it would have been interesting to go too....

For anyone interested, we've gone to the Siege of the Villa and it is a great small Renaissance fair, we do recommend it although it isn't as big or elaborate as the one in Scarperia organized for Diotto, also in September, or the one in Monteriggioni (this one in July).

HI Lourdes, I have been following the Discover Tuscany website and forum all year. The links given are NOT updated...none of them have 2018 dates.
Could you tell me the September dates for 2018 for the Siege of the Villa and also for the Scarperia festival. We are in Florence from 1oth to 18th September 2018. Many Thanks
