Geoff from Swindon

Hi
We are visiting Rome in September and want to go by bus to Siena. Does the Siena bus leave from Tiburtini?
We are then staying in Siena for a few days and want to do a day trip to San Gimignano. I believe we need to catch a number 130 bus but can we buy tickets on the bus?
From Siena we are then heading for Firenze. Which is best, bus or train?
Thanks

Travelling by Bus

Hello,

As for getting to San Gimignano from Siena, have a look at this page which should have all you need, plus a link to the bus timetables at the end: http://www.discovertuscany.com/san-g...gimignano.html
the timetable is a huge pdf that includes ALL of the bus lines from Siena to the surroundings. If you go to the main page of that site, so you will also find info about Siena - Firenze. There are several options.

Or you could have a look at this link for more info on how to get from Siena to Florence.

Travelling by Bus from Siena to Florence

Dear Geoff,

I would definitely recommend you getting the bus! The company is called SITA. It is one of the fastest and easiest ways to get between Florence and Siena. The SITA bus station is just around the corner from the train station in Florence. The journey time is about an hour, they run frequently and they pick you up in Siena's historic city center and take you right next to the SMN train station in Florence. Make sure you take the"rapide (express) and not the ordinarie, which stops in Poggibonsi and Colle Val d'Elsa!

This should be the link for the times from Siena to Florence

I dont' recommend the train as Siena train station is not near the historical centre and you have lots to walk!

Let me know if you need any other help!

Anna
