Hi Lordes,

I am driving from Chianti to Florence and am staying at Via del Corso, 16
Firenze, Toscana 50122, can you please advise which parking station I should choose to park my car?

Cheers,
Nicole

You are very central so the closest of the larger car parks from there is the one under the train station. It is also one of the most expensive. Take a look at the map at the top of this page.

In your case, I think it would be more convenient to use a private garage - such as the Bargello Garage: you can do a search and book online ahead of time through this link. A private garage gets you closer and even if you enter the ZTL, they will communicate your license plate to the authorities so you don't get a fine (just remember to ask to double check it is done!).

Hi Lourdes,

I read the link and thinking about parking next to the train station. I looked carefully at the map of how to get there without getting into the ZTL zone. However in google maps, street view, it looks like the turn from Viale Sparaco Lavagnini to Via Santa Caterina D’Alessandria (that latter becomes Via Nazionale) is into ZTL zone (see link to google maps below). Just want to make sure that nothing has changed recently or that maybe I missed something.

Thanks you!

Those signs are indeed warning you that there is a ZTL area to the right. But if you follow the google street view and turn right, then head to the first street and turn left -- there you'll see this: https://goo.gl/maps/5PfWfBLNnSv -- and again, the same signs appear, again warning you of the ZTL area. The BIG difference is that you have the STOPLIGHT with a red light warning you that the ZTL is ACTIVE right now. If you keep going forward and pass UNDER the camera mounted over the street (see it about 2 meters further down?), then you will be entering the ZTL.
So don't turn left!! :D Not unless that light is GREEN which indicates the ZTL is not active (generally after 8pm on a weekday not counting the extensions Thurs-Sat between April and October, more details here on exceptions: http://www.visitflorence.com/tourist-info/driving-in-florence-ztl-zone.html).

So that just to show you what the ZTL cameras look like and a "gate" into the ZTL. If you STAY on Via Santa Caterina and head straight on Via Nazionale, you get to the train station, to the rotary in front and to the entrance to the parking lot. No ZTL cameras at all on this street in order to let people access the station and parking lot there.
