lots of areas in Tuscany are not on the main to-do list, especially in March
Ciao Amyj,
Where in Tuscany will you be staying? Is this your first time to Tuscany? There are many things on the "average tourist's list of to do's" that you should definitely see and do if it is your first time, otherwise you'll miss out on some of the main things! In any case, March is low season so many of these places won't be as crowded as you find them in the summer.
If it isn't, then I recommend you rent a car while you are here and stay in the countryside: off the beaten track areas of Tuscany that are definitely not on everyone to-do list includes Arezzo, the Casentino Valley (visit Poppi and Camaldoli), Elba (March is off season so water will be cold, but it's still beautiful) and the area south of San Quirico Val d'Orcia (Montichiello and Radicondoli) and Monte Amiata. These are just some ideas to get you going!!
