Hi - we are taking our 15yr old son and 12yr old daughter to Manarola (Cinque Terre) from Florence via Lucca (spending the night) and Pisa. We are not sure whether bus would be better than train. Can anyone recommend what would be the best way to travel and how would we get from Pisa to Manarola? Many thanks

train is the best way to get to Cinque Terre

Ciao!!

Lucca is to the north of Pisa, so you have to head south and then back north through Lucca to head back north to Manarola.
So if you can, I'd plan going from Florence to Pisa first, spening half a day there, then continuing on to Lucca and spending the night there.
Next day you head up to Manarola (beautiful, one of my favorite of the five towns in Cinque Terre) by TRAIN. It definitely is the best way to get there. The train passes through La Spezia, sometimes it requires a train change there. In any case, once you're in La Spezia, the train ride is just about 10 minutes to Manarola.

You and your family will love Tuscany and the Cinque Terre, enjoy!! :)
