Buongiorno
I'm new to this so thank you in advice for any help!
I am in Siena now, for one night (my room isn't available tomorrow). I then have a further 7 (or, at a push, 8) nights in Tuscany and nothing booked from tomorrow onwards!!!
Ideally, from tomorrow I'd like to spend 4 (or 5) nights in one place... Somewhere I can use as a base to travel by bus and train, ideally quite relaxed. Those are the priorities: easy access and peaceful. Then I will spend the last 3 nights in Florence.
Background is; I started 2 weeks ago in southern italy, came up through Lazio and was due to spend a week with a friend, who is now no longer able to join me. I know it's late to book accommodation, but - while suggestions are welcome! - I will find something and I'm not worried. More concerned about location...
I would like to visit:
Chianti region
Arezzo
San gimignani
Pistoia (which I suppose might be easier after Florence)
(Have i missed anywhere key? I have been to Lucca and Pisa in the past.)
Found a great map, here: http://goitaly.about.com/library/bl_tuscany_rail_maps.htm and also read some of the advice on this (excellent!) site.
But, can anyone suggest a good base for me? Montepuciano? Poggibonsi? Castellina? Somewhere else? Please help!
Grazie tanti mille!
