Lourdes, can you please help me with some suggestions for an itinerary and accommodations. We have a total of 9 days in Italy in September. We are planning on flying into Rome and spending two days there, then on to Florence for one day. We will rent a car in Florence and drive to Tuscany. The problem is where to stay in Tuscany that will allow us to see as much of the region as possible. We want to see Montepulciano, San Gimignano, Chianti region, Siena, Lucca, Pisa and then travel to Lucca for one night and Cinque Terre for one night. We will return to Florence at the end of the 9 days and take a train to Rome for the trip home. We would like to stay in a farmhouse/B&B for the 3 nights in Tuscany. We want to experience the "real" Tuscany while there. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The more I look at these farmhouses, the more confused I get about which one to choose. Looking forward to your reply. Thank you so much for your expertise and assistance:):)

Destination for home base in Tuscany

Good Afternoon,
you could consider staying in the countryside near Siena, so that you can easily reach San Gimignano, Montalcino, Lucca, Pisa, the Chianti etc. There are a lot of very nice places to see and to stay. If you need more details, get in touch with us, we will be happy to help you.
Best regards.

Ciao Doxie,

So you actually have 5 days in Tuscany, correct? You can do Pisa and Lucca on that night you head that way, en route to CT.
I'd suggest staying anywhere in the area between Florence and Siena - here are some specific suggestions for B&Bs that would be really central to see all of the places you're interested in:

Have a good trip!!

trip to Tscany

We are planning a trip to Tuscany in mid-May, for about 7 days.
We will start with Florence for 2 days.
Do you have suggestions about a base for us, afterwards, in order to drive to the other towns and hillsides in Tuscany ??

Many thanks

May in Tuscany

Buongiorno,

I would select a central area with great views. Montespertoli, in the countryside around San Gimignano or just a little further south in the Gambassi Termi area. Below are a list of some places I have visited, with a bit of insight on each:

Le Torri near Montespertoli

Giovanna Vacanze - with a view overlooking San Gimignano

Tenuta Quadrifoglio - quiet, great views and centrally located.

Buon Viaggio,

Donna Denise
