Dear Lourdes, your advice to the other tourists sound priceless. Hope you can also help us.

We are planning a very short Italy trip mid March. We have been to Rome last year and want to see more of the Tuscany area and Venice this year. We are 6 adults and 1 toddler from South Africa. We will arrive in Rome on the 13th of March and want to spend the first night there, then we were thinking of 2-3 nights in Florence and 3 nights in Venice, before we depart from Venice on the 20th of March to return to SA.
We are more interested in experiencing Italy (food, drink, country side, scenery, gondola trips etc) instead of visiting museums and art exhibitions. We want to fit the following into our trip. Leaning tower of Pisa, Lucca (our son's name is Luca), visiting wine farms (not necessarily wine tasting if we dont have time...) and then the F1 entusiasts in our group want to visit Maranello and whatever is possible to fit into 4-5 hours on our way to Venice.
Any advice on how many days we need for Florence and Venice and whether we should spend a night in the countryside in between and where ?.... Also what the women in the group can do while the men take off to Modena/Maranello. Do you think we should take trains for part of the journey and hire a 9 seater for a roadtrip for another part of the trip or stick to carhire? I will be 6 months pregnant at the time, so we do not want the hassle of luggage when we have to travel with public transport and stop at a via point for sightseeing.

Quite a mouthful but thanks in advance!
