Lourdes or anyone else!!!
I realize this is last minute. So much to do and so little time to do it!! Almost packed and ready to go!! My wife "Sharon" had planned this trip 47 years before meeting me and my asking her to marry me!!! Finally she is going to Italy, 47 years later!!!!
Our trip is scheduled with 2 days in Venice, 2 days in Florence. We then have 9 days with a car to travel thru the Tuscan country side and perhaps stay in a number of Agriturisimos!
It would appear that perhaps the best way to approach this would be to follow the Discover Tuscany in 7 Day approach!? However that leaves us with 5 extra/remaining days.
Which cities towns have we left out or should we spend more time in?? Also perhaps we should also concentrate on some events that are taking place in certain towns??!!
The Discover Tuscany in 7 Days covers:

Pisa
Lucca
Chianti
Greve
Panzano
Castellina
San Gimignano
Sienna
Monteriggionni
Val D Orica
Arezzo
and Cortonna

Naturally we would like to stay in any of these areas longer or visit new towns or visit them at the time they are having special events if possible.

Help, anyone available to assist this last minute planner??!!

Am I correct that as I look at the list of Agriturissimos on the map that it is only if I search by name that a description of some of them comes up? While I do see a list of others alphabetically! Is it perhaps because they are not rated??

Hi Keith,

I was working on a reply and didn't see this before -- so take a look at my reply over here first, where I think I have covered many of your questions:
http://www.discovertuscany.com/forum/general-tourist-info/4677-9-days-tuscany.html#post11785

As you do have more time, I suggest just taking your time to enjoy and explore the towns near to where you are, if you follow my suggestion of using just two bases.

As far as accommodation, take a look at www.tuscanyaccommodation.com since you can search and browse by area (much better than our lists which are in no particular order).
For example, here for Chianti: http://www.tuscanyaccommodation.com/chianti/
and here for the areas south of Siena: http://www.tuscanyaccommodation.com/crete-senesi/

WOW, this will such a special trip for the both of you!! get searching and let me know if you need some more help (although do keep in mind we are 8 hours ahead of Utah time so we are headed into evening here and I might not see more posts before tomorrow morning ;-))

Thank You!!

Lourdes,

Getting this off to you before the end of the evening hopefully!!!

What an Angel you must be to travelers such as my wife and others!! God Bless you! Or perhaps shall I hope and wish that you will get to see Pope Bergoglio/Pope Francis!!!?? We shall miss seeing him in Florence by several days!!!!
It must be going crazy in preparation?
I thank you for the information so far, I need to look at it more closely. Still running around gathering things. When I get back in I shall look again.
Here is what is happening in Venice and Florence. We had already scheduled via an agent a stay at Fondamenta della Sensa for 2 days a walking tour and a gondola seranade! by train to Florence for 2 days at Hotel Cellai! and a morning city tour!
From Nov. 14 on we are free to travel by rental vehicle thru Tuscany returning to Florence by Nov. 24 , 7AM for our flight home!!!

If there is any chance of meeting our Angel in Tuscany it would be our pleasure, however if you are busy I can understand as well.

The city is crazy with preparations, he arrives tomorrow! Me personally - I will avoid downtown and stadium area at all costs ;-)

Hotel Cellai in Florence is perfect, very central. If you look here, you will find more ideas of what to do/see around Florence: http://www.visitflorence.com/itineraries-in-florence/
Enjoy the walking tour, head back to the places you want to see more of later ;-)

I would recommend Villa le Torri, if your time is limited as far as search goes and need more precise recommendations: http://www.tuscanyaccommodation.com/villa-le-torri.html
Gabriele and his parents love hosting and you can see that, they are also very central and walking distance from the nearby town so you should have a very good base.

We also really enjoyed our time at San Giovanni in Poggio:
http://www.tuscanyaccommodation.com/san-giovanni-in-poggio.html
While it is an apartment, you can enjoy meals out too at nearby Buonconvento or in Siena (which you can see from the apartments).

Tell both of them I gave them their name, they know us! :D

Hope your flight and last minute packing goes well!!
You can always reach me through here or at lourdes@discovertuscany.com - if we manage to coincide while you're here, it would be lovely but also know it can get busy and tiring once you're out sightseeing.
Enjoy all of Italy!!! :D
