Looking for music!

Our family (17 of us ranging from grandma (me) and grandpa to grandchildren in high school and college) will be staying in Tuscany for two weeks in June. Grandpa plays the harmonica and our grandson (age 20) is a very talented banjo player. Are there places in Tuscany or nearby where live music is played in a casual setting -- a setting in which our two family musicians can meet and perhaps jam a bit with other musicians?

It really depends on who you find. live jam sessions are not that common, as far as I've seen in commercial places like cafes or bars. In the summer you might get more lucky at outdoor, piazza festivals where everyone is more informal. But if artists secured a gig to perform, not sure how happy they would be share the stage, if you know what I mean. There are also many buskers in Florence and I've seen videos online where they've let visitors take over or play with them. Go near the duomo and you'll sing them!
