Free access to some museums for disabled and carer

I am accompanying a disabled friend for her first visit abroad and we want to see the main museums.
I believe we may get free access to some as she is classed in UK as disabled - although not physically so/use of wheelchair etc. What type of proof of disability would she need to show. Her Doctor has issued her with a letter stating her reasons for disability - would this be OK. She doesn't have a Blue Badge parking ticket that I have seen suggested on some sites (she doesn't drive). Any help appreciated.

Generally the letter from Doctor also works!
Yes, disabled EU visitors should get free entrance along with an accompanying person at all state museums. Go to the top of any line and show your letter and ask whether you can skip, you never know and you might avoid many lines.
Enjoy your visit!
