train travel with bicycles
Hi
We are visiting Florence, then flying home from Bologna. We need to take a train from florence to Bologna on a sunday for a flight home on Sunday evening.
Do we need to book our train advance?
We will be bicycles - can we take our bicycles on the train?
Thank you

bikes & trains
Buongiorno,
Yes you can travel on the train with a bike. There is a supplement ticket to purchase - (3,50 €) and it needs to be validated in the same way your ticket is validated.
You don’t need a ticket for your bike if it is dismantled and in a travel bag.
You are responsible for loading and unloading.
Trenitalia actually has a page online with FAQ about bike travel (unfortunately it has not been translated in English) http://www.trenitalia.com/tcom/Offer...rvizi/FAQ-Bici
Normally I would say there is no need to book in advance, but since you are travelling on a Sunday - I would suggest that you get your tickets a day or two before travelling.
Buon Viaggio,
Donna Denise

You could take your bikes. The ticket would be extra though. It wouldn't be a problem.
