Second thoughts on time spend?

Hi all,

My wife and I are travelling to Tuscany in a couple of weeks for a 10 day stay. We have purchased a package including accomodation and car rental - two nights in Pisa, two nights in Siena, three nights in Firenze and three nights in Montecatini Terme.

However, I have searched around for itineraries on this site and most have a vastly different allocation of time in different cities with e.g. Chianti and Lucca (which I understand are must sees?).

Do you have any advise on whether our accomodation plans are allright, or do we miss out on too much?

Thank you.

Best,
Nicolai

No second guessing allowed!

Buongiorno,

That is a great time frame...it will work out just great for seeing quite a bit of Tuscany.

From Pisa you can plan a day trip to the coast - include Livorno and you will be pleasantly surprised. One day you can split between Lucca and Pisa...they are very close.

On your way down to Siena, take time to visit San Gimignano. The really enjoy Siena and if you want on the second day - do a day trip that gets you into visiting Val d’Orcia.

When you go to Florence, take the long road through Chianti and meander through a vineyard or two. Personally I would head in the direction
Montereggioni,
Poggibonsi https://www.chianti.com/what-to-do-in-chianti/poggibonsi-an-overview.html
and then towards Castellina, https://www.chianti.com/castellina-in-chianti/
Panzano https://www.chianti.com/panzano-in-chianti.html
and Greve http://www.chianti.com/greve-in-chianti/ before going into Florence. (travel time is about 2 and a half hours...so it is perfect for a day trip)

Definitely spend two full days enjoying everything in Florence (museums, monuments and shopping)

Then take the last two days to relax …. And the thermal waters are the best place to do that. If you are hankering for another vineyard - there are several around the area that will fit the bill. And if you feel like you have the time them both Pistoia and/or Prato are very easy day trips from Montecatini.

Buon Viaggio,
Donna Denise
