Weather in Tuscany : Summer

I am trying to plan next Summer's holiday to Tuscany and Florence including cinque terre.

Can you indicate when it is best to visit tuscany in the end of August or end of September?

I am worried that tuscan countryside would not be at its best during august and September? Can you please describe the colours of tuscan countryside during these months? I am worried that hills will be brown and not beautiful compared to spring. In other words do you think that we will enjoy a tuscan holiday in august/September or we plan it for another time?

Apologies for the number of questions.

Thanks
Iloniana

Colors in Tuscany

Buongiorno,

The colors at the end of summer are definitely not the colors of spring...though the variation can depend a lot on how much rainfall we have had or what the average temps were in the season. For example, this year we had very little rain and everything is turning brown faster than normal.

That doesn’t mean it’s not beautiful, personally I love the fall colors that come out towards the end of September especially in the higher altitudes. But then again the million shades of green in spring is just as stunning.

September has another plus, as it is the time of the vendemmia (grape harvest) so there are many activities and events that you can participate in that have their own colors. Check out this years events calendars for the various areas in Tuscany:

I would highly recommend CT and Tuscany at the end of September.
Of course, also spring is beautiful but the "season" for CT or coast doesn't get going until early May.
Consider when you might have the time to visit, but both are good months when you can visit and see the regions at their best without it being either too hot or cold.

End of August is too warm for CT where there is no tree cover so no shade! Even if you get breezes, it can get to be too hot to out and about like that.
