two full days to explore, staying near Buonconvento

We are returning to Tuscany for a few days in June after spending a week there at Casali di Bibbiano near Buonconvento. We loved it there so much we are returning with friends to spend a couple of days there before heading to the coast. We visited Florence and Siena on our first visit and found that we were more enthralled with the smaller villages such as Montalcino and Pienza. So, I would like some suggestions for day trips to places like that..charming villages that we can wander around and grab a delicious lunch. We will have cars, so don't mind places that might take us a bit to get to as driving the countryside and exploring the area is part of the experience we want to have. Also, would like to visit some "off the beaten path" vineyards for wine and olive oil that we might not find here in the US. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Day trips from Buonconvento

Buongiorno,

Have a read through this article, it talks about day trips from Siena - BUT the area of Buonconvento is so close to Siena that these are valid ideas: http://www.discovertuscany.com/siena/what-to-do/day-trips-from-siena.html

I also suggest that you look into

Chiusi and the area (Cetona, Sarteano and Chianciano)

and read through these articles on wine itineraries in the area.
