2 weeks in Tuscany, where to stay?

Hi, I am planning a 2 week trip next May to Tuscany. We definitely want to stay in Florence for 4-5 days to see all the museums and sights, take day trips to other towns, etc. But I'm wondering where else we should stay? We do not plan on renting on car and will rely on the bus or train. We do not want to spend the entire two weeks based on Florence, so I'm wondering what other towns we should stay in? Thank you.

Where to Stay

Buongiorno -

I suggest you start your planning by reading these two articles, which should give you a few pointers on where to stay while in Tuscany -

Then I think you might like looking through our reviews, places that we have personally visited and then write about giving you our impressions on the accommodations, services and your hosts.

After this - come back to us with more specific questions, looking forward to help you plan the perfect holidays!

Thanks Donna. There's a place in Montalcino that I'm looking at staying at for maybe three days. Is that a good town to explore the rest of the Val D'orcia?

Montalcino

Ciao -

That is a wonderful little town to use as a base.

One of my favorite trips in the area when is a circular tour (Montalcino, Trequanda, Montepulciano, Pienza, Bagno Vignoni, San Antimo, Montalcino)
