Hi everybody,
Me and my wife are going to visit Tuscany in October. We are in our mid fifties. It is our first trip to Italy and we are very excited about this.We divided our trip to 2 parts: 5 days based in Florence and 5 days based in Siena. For the first part of our trip we are planning to explore Florence for 3 days and then:
-1 day trip by train to Piza and Livorno;
-1 day trip by train to Lucca and Pistoia.
For the second part of our trip we are gonna rent a car and drive to Siena to explore it for 2 days and then:
-1 day trip by car to Pienza and San Quirico d'Orcia;
-1 day trip by car to San Gimignano and Monteriggioni;
-1 day trip by car to Arezzo.
My question is: if is it all doable ,is it enough time to visit 2 towns by train, should we add something that we missed and it's must see in Tuscany.

Thank you in advance for the advise.

Buongiorno,

(Technically) it is enough time to visit two towns by train - however, anyone of those towns could easily merit a full day - so just be sure you give yourself lots of time by starting out as early as possible.

If you want to visit the tower of Pisa - remember to book before you go!

Defintiely have a read through this article about Livorno to help you plan your time...and if you were going to only have time for a few things in Livorno...do the boat ride and visit the market for happy hour.

Arezzo is a personal favorite - so enjoy!

Buon Viaggio,
