Staying in Tuscany for a month and need a central destination

We are celebrating our 50th Anniversary in 2018. We have a game plan for fun in Europe starting in the second week of July.

I am considering going in June 18 and spending a month in Tuscany. We have been to Italy several time in the past and love the people.

Our plan is to invite our children and families to join us during the month in a rented home. I suspect the maximum number of persons to be 10.

My wife wants to stay in the city/town so we can walk and enjoy eating and sites.

Any recommendations on city/town that would be ideal. Ideal being safe, great food, sites to see, and ease of taking day trips to other cities.

Finally, we need the location to have lodging at the upper end of the price range. We normally stay at the Ritz Carlton type hotels when we are by ourselves.

Thanks in advance

Celebrating in Tuscany

Buongiorno - I LOVE IT!

That's the way to celebrate!

So I am going to suggest you read our article about several considerations for choosing a location, which should give you a few ideas.

As for suggestions of where to stay, there really are so many places. I have personally visited these places which I believe would be exceptional for a high end vacation, they are located on larger estates and give everyone privacy - yet to stay together:

As for a Tuscany villa rental, I have also visited these locations:

Buon Viaggio,

What a wonderful way to celebrate!! Congrats too :)

If you will expect people to come and go during the entire month, a villa might be a great way to settle in into a "home" and welcome your guests. Just consider that a car rental will be needed for most villas as they are in the countryside and harder to reach by bus or train.

Considering you've also already been to Italy, you should definitely enjoy a chance of scene by staying outside of a city. Here are a few more places that came into mind:

Villa Piaggia: https://www.discovertuscany.com/tuscany-villas/villa-piaggia.html

Villa Corsanello: https://www.tuscanyaccommodation.com/villa-corsanello.html

Brogo di Pietrafitta: https://www.tuscanyaccommodation.com/borgo-di-pietrafitta.html

Also consider getting two places for 2 weeks each, if you would like to base yourselves in two different areas to use as a base for exploration, maybe once in southern Tuscany and another closer to Florence.

Let us know if you need more recommedations ;)
