We are a family of 2 kids 10 and 3 years of age and me and my wife travelling in the month of May . We were planning to allocate 5-6 days in the Tuscany area , if someone could suggest us a place where to stay keeping in mind we have kids and would need to keep them busy also . We would be able to do 2 or 3 day trips to different places please also suggest not to miss places .We would like to enjoy the country side also so would not mind staying in a farm house or a villa but with good connectivity .

Also trying to figure out itinery for 1 week in Tuscany.

We are 2 people ( not a couple) planning a visit to Tuscany mid July for 1 week. Not sure if we should fly into Florence or Pisa but want to End in Rome. We can also start and end in Rome. We Would like to experience trains, cooking class, wine tasting and of course every area posted on your site. We may also want to hire a driver or rent a car when/if need be for tours. We can stay in one place for the week and do day trips of stay in 2 places. So many choices--help!

Flying in

Buongiorno,

I wouldn't start and end in Rome - too much lost time travelling (even if you do want the train experience )

You can fly into either location, Pisa normally has more of a selection of flights though Florence puts you in the city hub for the national train and bus lines.

My suggestion would be to fly into Pisa, stay there or in Lucca and then travel to Florence, where you can visit the wonderful city and then do a day trip to Siena.

You can arrange a visit into the Tuscany countryside with a wine tour or cooking lesson. In fact, I suggest you read through this article for more detailed information on the various activities you can do during the summer with a driver or organized tour:

Ciao loril917,

If you want to end in Rome to have time to see it, make sure to at least include a whole day there.

You can fly into either Pisa or Florence, maybe better in Pisa to see the Leaning Tower first and then move on to Florence. You could stay your first night in Pisa, see Lucca and then head on to Florence. All by train, that way you get that experience! ;-)

Use Florence as your base to see other parts of Tuscany - you can join a tour to go into Chianti and do wine tasting or to go to both Siena and San Gimignano in a day. You can also rent a car with driver if you prefer a private tour, we recommend Francesco.
