Ciao ragazzi!

I hope you can help - or point me in the right direction!!

I am moving to Tuscany next year for 12 months and will be staying in a small town called Anghiari near Arezzo.

Golf is one of my serious sports, I have seen there are a number of courses in the region between Florence and Sienna and 4-6 not too far (1 hr drive) from our place.

Has anyone played golf over there? Has anyone found a Club that may take us on as members for a year or so? Obviously we will have introductions from our Clubs in Australia and UK but before I send random letters to all of the Clubs I thought someone may have already negotiated this track.

All advice gratefully received!

Marco

Ciao Marco,

Welcome to our forum - and to Tuscany soon! :)

I can't speak from personal experience in this case but I don't believe you'll encounter problems showing up and asking to register or play.

Closest to Arezzo is Golf Club Casentino near Poppi (with a great view of the castle).
From the fees, you can see they have options for annual registrations for non-residents.

La Bagnaia is about the same distance, a bit to the southwest of Siena

Look into the one near Perugia, which should also not be too far from Arezzo and maybe closer than the ones closer to Florence

Ugolino is in Chianti to the south of Florence

Do share with us your experience :) We learn lots in this way!

Thanks so much! The Castillo looks fantastic and I will go up this August(short trip!) to say hello - given the beauty of the countryside anywhere with these amazing views will make for a great game!

Will keep you posted!!!

Grazie

I am a golfer myself - I come from Scotland so I suppose it is in my blood!

Two bits of info to help with suggestions (I know Tuscany golf) - what is your age and what is your handicap?
