Golf and wine trip home base

My wife, myself and our 12 year old son are looking to visit Tuscany for a week and would like to play some golf, do some wine tours and perhaps a cooking class or two. We would prefer a more resort type town rather than the cites of Florence or Sienna as a home base. Do you have any recommendations as to what would be a good home base?

Golfing and Resorts in Tuscany

Buongiorno,

What a great combination Tusany, golf and wine! There are quite a few places to play golf in Tuscany (Golf Club Ugolino, UNA Poggio dei Medici Golf Club, Casentino Golf Club, Arezzo) and (believe it or not) you will be able to find wine tasting opportunities everywhere you go in Tuscany.

Below I listed a few together with links to the clubs and some wine tasting ideas.

Buon viaggio,

I would second that if you use Montecatini as your base, you would get that feel of more of a "resort" than the cities of Florence or Siena, I would also suggest visiting in months not in the "high" season so that you can enjoy that same feel at a more leisurely pace.

I would also add the Mugello as a good area, particularly if you were to stay near the golf course Poggio dei Medici ;)

I'd also add Chianti (to be near the Ugolino course) as a good base, particularly around Greve - take a look at Viticcio, a wine estate, as an example - https://www.tuscanyaccommodation.com/fattoria-viticcio.html
I think a wine based castle/estate would make for a great base for the entire family. We've stayed at Borgo Scopeto and loved it, but I think another good choice would be Borgo di Pietrafitta.
