My wife and I are planning a trip to Tuscany in late September 2020. we are planning on spending 3 nights in Florence and then head out to the countryside for 8 to 10 days. We are looking for a place to act as a good base. We have been to Pisa and have no interest to go back. Suggestions please.

Looking for a good base

Buongiorno -

I would head down towards Siena after you stay in Florence. It is centrally located so that you can easily cover several areas.

To give you a few ideas, you can check out this article about day trips from Siena:

I particularly like the idea that from this position you can cover both the deep south of Tuscany as well as areas to the east and west which normally get overlooked - like Pitigliano, Casentino/ Arezzo, Cortona and the Maremma.

Have a look at this link for a wide selection of different types of accommodations ranging from B&B, Hotel and the wonderful farmhouse stays.

Buon Viaggio,
