Car or bus/train for a week-long roundtrip?

Hello everyone,

My husband and I have decided to go to Tuscany to celebrate his 40th birthday, so I am looking at itineraries for a week beginning of November and have some questions.

We want to fly to Pisa, spend a day there (with or without sleepover), then drive to Siena and stay there for a few days to do daytrips to Chianti, San Gimigiano, Montepulciano, etc. We then plan to drive north to Florence, stay there for a day or 2 and then go further up to Verona and fly back from there.

My question is now: Would you recommend to have a car for the entire week or rather do some of the travel by train/bus? I am not sure how the situation with roads and traffic jams are on the itinerary I am planning.

I appreciate any info! Many thanks in advance! :)

Hi Sue,
really nice itinerary I'm sure you will love it! :)
I always suggest visitors to move around Tuscany by car, it is surely the best way to really enjoy the territory and the landscapes and to discover some places you could not reach by train or by bus!
Moreover the roads in november won't be busy at all! ;)

Hope you will enjoy a lovely birthday!
