Florence to Mensano

Hello --

I'll be in Mensano for a month with family. With my rusty Italian, I'm trying to navigate the bus lines for Florence to Mensano. Can anyone out there confirm that this is correct:

BluBus is not the way to go. I think CTT is? http://www.lucca.cttnord.it/GoogleTransit

But again, my Italian is so rusty--does anyone have some advice?

Second question: Can I rent a car from AV airport in Florence and return it in Siena or close by somewhere? How to research this?

In thanks,
Anna

The only Mensano I found is in the province of Siena, between Casole d'Elsa and Radicondoli. So you most definitely do not want to take any buses ran by the Lucca company, but by Siena Mobilità - http://www.sienamobilita.it/

Google Maps proposes getting to Poggibonsi first - train from Florence seems to be faster than bus but it depends on your departure time. All bus the whole way can take around 4 hours, while train and bus is about 3.5 hours.
From Poggibonsi, you catch bus 130 to Colle Val d'Elsa, from Colle you catch bus 126 to Casole which has a stop at Mensano.

Of course, car all the way is more about an hour and 10 minutes..... this is why we often recommend renting a car over public transportation, particularly when you don't have much time to waste!

You can most definitely rent a car in Florence at the airport and return in Siena - as long as you use the major rental companies, that's a possibility. Search for solutions using the search box on this page:
http://www.discovertuscany.com/tuscany-car-rental/
Since it searches all of the main rental companies, you will have a chance to choose from those that come out, such as Hertz, Avis and Sixt.

Have a great time in Tuscany! A whole month is great, you can definitely alternate between having a car or not during that time, depending on how mobile you want to be ;-)
