accommodation at a new town every night?

I've gone through your post on exploring Tuscany by car. Since you talk about visiting a new town every day, does this mean we stay in a different hotel / B&B every night? Would this be more expensive then booking a room at one hotel for a few nights and using that as a base to drive around Tuscany?

We're very keen, like you said, on exploring Florence, and then renting a car from there to visit other Tuscan towns. We're looking at 5-6 days in Tuscany.
