Help with Itinerary 1 week!

Hi Guys,
I will be flying into Pisa airport and have 7 nights in the region. Will be in Tuscany for the first week of April.
I will be relying on public transport rather than driving and was hoping for some help with my itinerary.

I arrive in Pisa around midday and I am thinking of getting a train to La Spezia and spending the evening and following day in the Cinque Terre (Yes I know this is Liguria not Tuscany!).

What I am unsure of is how to spend the next approx. 5 nights. I have an early morning flight (7.30am) out of Pisa so I am planning on arriving into Pisa the afternoon before to see the tower etc and have a relaxed evening before flying home.

What I am not sure of is how to spend my time in between those two. I am currently debating splitting my time with 2 nights in Florence and 2 nights in Siena. I know that I will not get all i want to see and do into my week and thats fine - a good reason to return!

But would people consider it better to spend 4/5 nights in Florence and have some day trips to places such as Siena and San Gimignano and to check out some vineyards. Or should I spend 2 nights in both?

Was thinking something like night 1 CT / La Spezia - 2 nights Florence - 2 nights Siena - 1 night Pisa before flying home.

Any ideas suggestions or feedback would be much appreciated!

Tuscany (& Liguria) in April

Buongiorno,

That sounds like an excellent itin.

My only consideration, from Pisa to La Spezia to Florence to Siena and then back to Pisa is that you may lose a lot of time traveling.

You could consider substituting Siena with Lucca - though vastly different histories and looks - they are very similar in that they are both smaller towns, loaded with lots of local colors and much to see. It would really cut your travel time and give you more time to enjoy the scenery!

Check out this article about info & day trips from Lucca:

I think you should be headed to either Florence or Siena from Pisa and make that place as your base. Both places are well connected by high-speed trains. Based on your preference and liking, you can choose the place you want to visit. Being in Italy is like having a menu open before you, make your choice and enjoy it. If you want to enjoy a glass of wine in the scenic and picturesque wineries then you can go to the wineries in the Chianti region, experience a piece of history by visiting medieval manhattan at San Gimignano and the paradise that Cinque Terre is.

So you are spoiled for choices if you are in Tuscany, just state your preferences.

I like how you've divided up the days so I say 2 days in Florence and 2 in Siena work well. Since you're relying on public transport, you can take a bus from Siena to go to San Gimignano - but if you're interested in doing wine tastings and visits to wineries, I'd suggest joining a guided tour and that way the getting there and back is taken care of for you.
Take a look at these tours - http://tours.discovertuscany.com/en/8357/Tuscany-tours/Wine-Tasting-and-Winery-Tours/d206-g6-c21
it has tours that depart both from Florence and Siena, this way you can decide whether to plan them from one place or the other.

As for day trips from these two towns, if you want to do them, take a look at these articles:
