Hello;
I will be in Lucca on the May 1st Labour Day holiday; and wondered what to expect.
What will be open?; and are there local celebrations such as perhaps a parade, or a street party?
I presume restaurants will be open in the evening?
Thanks!:):)

It is a national holiday so expect most stores and museums to be closed. Generally a good amount of restaurants will be open... if you're in town a day early, you can scout which ones will be open for sure (you can ask them or ask your hotel what they suggest).

As for celebrations, they vary and the big ones are in Rome and Milan where concerts are often held all day. Most towns will have a parade or rally in a main square, generally led by the main labor unions. In Italy life is quite politicized so you'll see a lot of red on that day :) Everything is generally very peaceful and lots of families are out and about enjoying the day off and hopefully the sunshine!

The climate in Tuscany is very mild. The most beautiful season is May, September and October.
So the main season to travel in tuscany is spring, summer and autumn, especially because the landscape at that time of the year is very beautiful.
