Which towns to use as a base in Tuscany

Hi all, we are going to Italy in early June and will be staying in Florence for four nights and then have five nights to spend around Tuscany. We would like to post up in just two other places and take day trips from there so we are not changing hotels so frequently- which towns would you recommend to use as bases in Tuscany? We will not have a car with us but will be travelling by train or bus. Also, My mother is adamant about seeing one of the coastal towns at some point while we are there. Thank you!

Place to stay near public transport

Buongiorno,

I just spend the weekend in a special little B&B called Casa Palmira which has excellent access to public transport and is about 35 outside of Florence, where you can catch the bus and trains into many places (including a coastal town like Livorno).

Another beautiful little place to stay is and this one is located towards the south of Tuscany between Florence and Siena:
