    Default Visiting in February

I am travelling to Florence this week for 6 days. I would like to leave Florence and see the surrounding countryside but not sure where would be best at this time of year. I would like to stay overnight somewhere if possible but don't want to spend too much money as I am a single traveller. Would you recommend hiring a car? I want to see as much as possible but don't want to drink and drive!

If visiting the countryside at this time of year is not recommended then I am considering visiting Rome for a couple of days instead.

    Thanks for your help.

I suggest that you look at staying in Siena for a few days - it is beautiful like Florence but very different and then from here there are a few day trips you could do on your own with public transport that you may find interesting and cost effective.

    Buon Viaggio,
