Hi
We are planning to visit Italy from 16 March to 24th March.
We plan to visit Tuscany. We love wines and want to visit good wine estates and preferably stay in one. We will be hiring a car after our stay in Florence. (day 5 onwards)
Base- Florence
Day 1 = Land in Florence. Relax. Visit Piazzale Michelangelo in the evening
Day 2 = See Uffizi Gallery, Ponte Vecchio and Academia
Day 3 = Visit Piazza Del Duomo, Cathedral De Santa Maria and Pitti Palace or Bardini Gardens .
Day 4 – Day trip to Cinque De Terra. Book a boat Cruise.
Day 5 = Drive out of Florence. Do wine tasting + Lunch at Antinori wine estate. Visit Montefrioralle + Panzano.
Day 6 – Day trip to Siena
Day 7 – Day trip to Montalcino – Do a wine estate tour producing Brunello wine. Visit Montalcino town
Day 8 – Day trip to Montepulciano – Do a wine estate tour producing Nobile wine. Visit Montepulcaino town
Day 9 – Drive Back to Florence. Stop at San Gimignano on the way.
Wanted help on a few things
We are very keen to stay in a beautiful wine estate .. can you pls recommend good ones near Montalcino/Montepulciano- We would like to stay here as a base and do day trips to Sienna Montalcino etc. Stay in farmhouses are also an option.
Is the itinerary too much? we have 2 kids - 8 & 4 with us. They are usually happy travellers.
Also what are the rules when driving after wine tasting? We wont be drinking a lot just tasting a bit.
Any help/ opinions are welcome!!
