Lucca

Hi, I will be staying in Lucca for 5 nights (four full days) in June.
I intend to visit Pisa for one of the days and Florence for another.
I have been told that the easiest way is by bus? Is this true? Also, can anyone tell me where to get off the bus in these places or will I just know?
Is there anywhere else quite near that is easily accessible by public transport that I should visit whilst in Lucca? Thanks.

We stayed in Lucca for 5 nights in 2014. It's absolutely lovely! Many fond memories...
We easily took the train between there and both Florence and Pisa. Our hotel was not near the train station, so we took the local bus to and from the station. Enjoy!

Lucca is a lovely place to use as a base - make sure to read this article on day trips from Lucca:

I would say the easiest way to move around is actually by train - there are fewer stops and you go right into the center of Pisa and Florence (and any other town you decide to visit.

If you want to head to the coast, head to Viareggio for a walk along the beach ;-)
