Hello,
I see that there is a half marathon coming up during the time I will be visiting and I'd like to know if it's possible to register. I understand i might need to obtain a run card? How do i go about that? i'm grateful for any help in getting this set up. Thank you!

Thank you so much for your response! We will arrive in Bologna October 26, so I'd like to try to do a race either the 29th or 30th. We are more than glad to travel as long as we may do so via train. We will be in the country until November 3rd, and will will make stops is Florence and Stabia as well.

I believe this one is is November, and sadly i will not be in the country when this one is happening. Do you have any options for October 29th or 30th? I am so very thankful for your guidence

This site is ugly but it lists all the races by region - these are the ones in Tuscany:
http://www.tuttopodismo.it/Calendario-Podismo/z_Toscanaottobre2016.htm

On the 30th, there is a half marathon in Arezzo, another in the province of Pisa (Ponte Felcino) and several shorter runs.

On the 31st, if you're in Florence, you can head to the Cascine park for a fun 5k run for Halloween: http://www.halloweenrun.it/it/

Do you run races back home? If you have the health certificates you use to register for races back home, you'll need those for the run card/registration for the half marathons here.

Marathons

Ciao -

sorry - I read the dates incorrectly.

Another marathon in the time frame you are here is in Arezzo, which is a quick train ride from Florence and a beautiful little city to explore (even if you are runnin through it  )

The half Marathon does a double route around the city. One of the big differences with Florence, is Arezzo has a lot of ups and downs since it is a hilltop town, so it might be more of a challenge.

The registration is http://www.icron.it/services/icronGO/elencoiscrittipubblico.php?idgara=2016429

Unfortunately the sites are only in Italian...

Ciao,
I just did the runcard as I'm going to try the half marathon in Livorno on november 13th,
it should work for every race of the FIDAL cirquit (from what I understand, most races).
I also costs less if you are not italian. For Livorno I need the runcard and the "certificato di idoneità all'attività agonistica" (health certificate).

I also checked on some websites such as this:
http://www.marathonworld.it/calendario-maratone-italia-2016.html
http://www.marathonworld.it/calendario-mezza-maratona-ottobre-2016.html

and there's not much on the 29-30th of october but the half marathon in Arezzo seems like the closest option.
You can subscribe here:http://www.maratoninacittadiarezzo.it/iscrizioni/ and they mention specifically the Runcard.

hope it helps and you can run while in Italy!

Thank you so very much for the great information! I do run races back home (I just completed a marathon), but we generally are not required to produce any kind of health certificates. Do i just need something from my doctor that states I;m healthy enough to run? I would love to do the race in Arezzo, but if not then the race on Halloween would work at well. We are actually arriving in Florence from bologna on the morning of the 31st.
Thank you, thank you, thank you so very much for the time you are taking to help me put this together.I am so very thankful!

The Halloween run is at night, so you can definitely make it!

This is the list for Emilia-Romagna, the region where Bologna is - http://www.tuttopodismo.it/Calendario-Podismo/z_Emilia-Romagnaottobre2016.htm

I only see one half marathon on Sunday the 30th in CALDERARA DI RENO which is on the outskirts of Bologna, so likely the one you had seen.
This is the flyer I found: http://www.uispbologna.it/files/leghe/atletica/VOLANTINO_Lippo_di_Calderara.jpg

I only see an email for registration, it seems they require a card # OR health certificate.

This is the registration form: http://www.lippomaratona.com/files/modulo.pdf

Cost is 10 euro, 12 euro the day of. I think you could likely register the day of, even if the flyer says registration closes Oct 28. Maybe send an email and see if you can register and just pay the day of...?

Good luck!
