singer guitarist for a wedding

Hi
We are getting married in June in San Gimignano and would really like to have an acoustic singer / guitarist for the reception- someone similar to Seu Jorge...
I've tried trawling the web but not had much luck finding someone from here in the UK. Does anyone know anyone or have any ideas of contacts in order to find someone?
Thanks very much
Jo

singer guitarist for a wedding (reply)

Hello Jorodford,

congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

Actually it's not easy to find a good singer who can play Brasilian music and sometimes relying on wedding planners can be disappointing, as their bands and repertoire are often cheesy (and expensive).

You were not unlucky during your web search: information about music and wedding is absolutely missing or linked to big wedding planners only (who sometimes have awful websites not even in English).

If I were you, I'll try to contact the artists on your own, using the most important social network for musicians, that is myspace.

I do not know any of the bands listed below: these are just a few results of a search based on keywords like "myspace bossa nova tuscany".

For example, the three are based in Florence. You can get in touch with them by e-mail, listen to some samples of their music and...cut the costs of a wedding planner!!

I hope this helps

Congratulations!

Kind regards

Fabrizio

Ciao Jarodford,

Congrats on the upcoming wedding!

Another suggestion would be to try and see whether a wedding planner can just help organize the music for the reception and that's all. They might have contacts they already use and send you samples. Since you're interested in a specific sort of music, I'm sure they can tell you whether they can help or not from the start. I recommend you try the Happening wedding planners, I know the majority of their weddings are with foreigners and do offer just parts of services and not necessarily the whole wedding or nothing.

:D

Wonderful!! Was it through one of the suggestions above?

You'll have to come back after the wedding and let us know how everything goes off as we've become sideline participants :)

I am sure everything will go off well and you'll have a great time - you'll be in Tuscany after all! ;)
