Hi. My wife and I want to go to Tuscany during early to mid April. I would like to have a single base to explore the region. I want to rent a car from the airport. Where should we fly into? My wife prefers cities; I prefer more a more laid back experience. Ideally we'll combine the both. We like good food, small, pretty towns, nice countryside, and just general exploring. I wouldn't mind being near some coastal towns. The main thing is I don't want the car becoming an albatross for us. My wife doesn't like walking too much so mobility is an issue. Is there a good centralized spot to be in that allows us easy access to say Florence or other smaller scale cities where driving to these sights won't be a problem with the car, like parking or restricted zones? What about a good location for taking trains and busses into some of the larger towns/cities in the region?
We're not bread and breakfast types but we do like higher end type hotels, and preferably not the boutique type ones. Our limit would be $200-250 euros, less expensive is fine too. We'd like the hotel to include a nice breakfast in the price and hopefully for it to have an elevator. Thank you.
