The south doors of The Baptistery of San Giovanni
I have read that the south doors of the Baptistery of San Giovanni, by Andrea Pisano, were removed for restoration. Have the doors been put back in place or are they gone? We will be visiting in May with an art student group and were hoping to see the doors. Thanks!

The original doors are inside the Museum dell'Opera del Duomo, located behind the cathedral. On site they have placed copies at the Baptistery -- since you're coming with an art group, I highly recommend you go see all of the original doors at the museum, including the Gates of Paradise. They are all in this large hall that makes it easier to study them rather than outside with the crowds.

I just checked some pics of the duomo area I took last week and I was wrong, the copies have not been put in place yet. So you can only see the originals at the moment inside the museum.
