The Treasure Rooms: the Marvels of Collectors in Florence's Museums

Florence's smaller museums have banded together to offer a special exhibitions across their collections around the idea of the treasures Florence houses. In particular, these show off Florentine artistic craftsmanship and the golden era of when private antiques collectors in Florence were very active.

In 1861, Italy became a nation, unifing several independent states that had their own influence, history and traditions. The exhibit, in celebration of 150 years of the Italian state, brings together all these sides of Italy, showing works of art that represent each area before unification. The differences can still be seen in present-day Italy in each area of the country but in 1861 they also led to the "miracle" of unification.
