What to do this weekend in Florence

Piazza Santa Croce

We can certainly say that Autumn is here. Even though it’s quite warm during the day, early in the morning and late at night I definitely need to put on my scarf and hat.

Over this first weekend in October, Florence will be animated by several events. The most expected is certainly Wine Town Firenze. Four days entirely dedicated to high quality wine. The event will be in different places around the city and will include wine tastings. Together with Wine Town there will also be Ruralia Firenze taking place at the Cascine Park.

In Piazza Santissima Annunziata on Saturday and Sunday October 2-3 there will be the International Fair of Ceramics. More than 60 ceramists from Europe will show and sell their works. The fair is free and open all day long from 10.00 to 19.00. Piazza Santa Croce will then host the International Market with about 120 sellers from several European countries. It’s the ideal place if you want to buy something typical from other European countries.

On Sunday if you are in the Chianti region in the surroundings of Gaiole in Chianti and want to see something really picturesque, I suggest you take the time to see the Eroica. More than 3000 participants, dressed in vintage clothing and riding old bikes tour Chianti’s “white” roads (unpaved roads). Even if you’re not a bike lover or cyclist, and I am neither, this historical race is really exciting to watch.

I wish you all a nice weekend!
